Coate Water Session:
Saturday Mornings: 9.45am- 12.15pm
Please park in the main car (standard parking fees apply) and walk to the slipway near the mini golf area. If you have your own kayak please contact admin@swindondistrictcanoeclub.co.uk to arrange access to the smaller car park near the slipway.
We also have sea kayaks, Canadian canoes, and stand up paddleboards that club members can use. Please speak to the Duty Officer to organise this.
Occasionally there are more sessions at Coate Water in the summer evenings that members are welcome to attend.
Dorcan Pool Session:
Wednesday Evenings: 8pm-9.45pm (exit pool when whistle blows at 9.30pm)
Meet in the pool reception area at 8.00pm, pay fees, and have a chat with other members before going through for the session.
Trips
As a club we also have regular trips on different rivers e.g. Thames, Exe, Avon etc. The trips will be on rivers that range from sheltered water to white water, so there will be something for everyone.
British Canoeing Membership
SDCC is affiliated to British Canoeing and has earnt the credential of being a 'Quality Club'. We provide members with Club Associate Membership if they do not have their own BC On the Water membership, please see the Club Associate Membership document for more details.
It is strongly advised that all independent paddlers have British Canoeing 'On the Water' membership. If you are asked for a membership card while on a licensed river, e.g. river Thames, by a waterways official (lockkeeper), and cannot supply one, you can be rightfully asked to leave the water.
AGM
We encourage all members to attend our Annual General Meeting each year for a chance to look back at the previous year and plan for the coming year. We present awards and trophies to recognise club members’ achievements, club matters are discussed, and members are welcome to comment, or raise relevant issues. Do remember though that you are not restricted to the AGM and any suggestions or concerns can be discussed throughout the year with club committee members.
Committee members are also appointed at the AGM and it is always appreciated that members are prepared to step forward in this capacity and give a few hours of their time to help the club continue, and we hope that this is something that you will consider in the future.
